Hello! This is Ranbir and I would like to share my story of how I got into exploring the world of computers. It all started a little over 4 years ago when I started playing games on my brother's PS4. It was my official introduction to titles like FIFA, GTA5, and a few others. Even though I played only for an hour or two every week, it started growing on me and I soon realized I'd been messing around on my brother's PS4 for over a year! Now, determined to acquire my own console, I started pushing the subject with my parents. They feared I would get addicted to gaming, so alternatively agreed to get me a computer! And unfortunately, I had to settle for a laptop as they believed it would be more practical to carry it around. I began saving all the money I received through pocket money, gifts, etc., and started doing a lot of research on computers alongside. I read article after article about all types of computers ranging from 40,000 all the way up to 4,00,000. And after about a year, around my birthday, I was finally able to afford my first computer! I was over the moon! Played video games nonstop for the first few days! And after all my research, even though I was on a limited budget of 50k, I was still able to buy a computer that could handle most games on 60fps (frames per second determines how smooth your application will run). My desire to know more and more about various kinds of hardware/software kept growing. I started reading articles and watching videos of people who would discuss their experiences with computers and the different components that go into them and the purpose therein. I also enrolled myself in coding classes because I wanted to learn about various programming languages and their functions. This phase also opened doors into the world of gadgets and I started exploring phones, smartwatches, etc., etc. I started seeing technology in various compressed forms all around. I suddenly wanted to improve my computer and I once again started exploring computers with advanced features.

Hi guys! This is further to my introduction to the world of computers. I will be sharing some tips to help you get started with learning about technology. And this goes for all age groups. Firstly, it is important to know that you will need to put some effort & time into learning about technology. I recommend reading articles, watching reviews, and listening to podcasts. This would help in keeping you aware and updated. If you want to explore computers and laptops, do some research and learn how each component functions, and then select the right set of components for your own PC. I will be writing about this topic in detail in my future blog. With smartphones, the process is very similar, and emphasis needs to be laid on the software. Almost all brands of smartphones have a slightly different software, brands like apple have a whole new software system(iOS) whereas most brands run on a modified version of android. Let's look at the basics of buying a pc (I will be talking about this in detail in a later article), for most people I recommend buying a laptop as its mobility is very useful. I only recommend desktops for people who don’t care about practicality and just want performance. For people buying laptops, whether you're going to use them for student work, office work, or general use, you should go for a laptop that has a good battery life so you can use it for longer periods of time on the go. If your focus is a gaming computer, you need to go for something with a high-performance CPU and GPU. For desktops, it is important to know the purpose of every component. For example, a motherboard is the base of the pc and is what you connect all the parts onto. After selecting a perfect set of components for yourself, choose a pc or get your own custom pc assembled with the selected parts, a big advantage with desktops. I will keep sharing info/experiences on my profile. Feel free to check it out at your convenience

Hi guys – this is further to what I spoke about getting into the world of technology and putting that know-how into buying a gadget that helps us ease our day-to-day tasks. Today I will be sharing my info on buying laptops. Yes – one of the most asked questions, which laptop should I buy? For me to break that broad question into a simpler understanding, we have to understand how each component works - the CPU (central processing unit) performs most tasks, so the better the CPU the faster those tasks happen. There are 2 major CPU companies namely Intel and AMD which cater to most computers available. Some heavy tasks require CPUs with more cores and threads, which we will get into at a later date. Next is RAM (Random Access Memory) which is basically short-term memory, broadly helping in how fast apps and tabs open. There are two things to know about RAM, firstly the speed of the RAM (most laptops have about 2400- 2600mhz, for desktops there’s a choice you can make so I recommend getting at least 3200mhz). Next is the CAS latency, and the lower the better. For most computers, I think 16GB of RAM is the perfect amount as it can handle most tasks. And for people who barely use computers for surfing/email/YouTube etc., even 8GB should suffice. Next is the GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) which plays a major role in gaming laptops & gaming pcs. It determines factors like graphics, fps, and more. An important point to observe in a GPU is its VRAM, for normal gaming you shouldn't need more than 4GB, but if you want to play some heavy games or use high settings getting 6GB of VRAM is a better option. Only if you want to play heavy titles at high settings like cyberpunk, battlefield, or similar then opt for 8GB of VRAM. Anything more than that is an overkill at this point. Next is the battery, and for most normal laptops/usage getting a 50-60 whr battery should be fine. But if you use your laptop on the go mostly, getting a 72whr battery will go a long way. For gaming laptops, it is a different story and I say this from personal experience! I have used a 64whr battery & that barely lasted, I also tried a 72whr battery which would last around 2-3 Hrs. I am presently using a machine with a 90whr battery and I finally get good battery life. As for storage and displays, not much explanation is needed. Now that we all understand what each component does, it will be a lot easier to find yourself a suitable laptop. I have personally done some research about laptops available in the market and will be sharing a list of laptops that I think are really good. For example, if you are on a tight budget you should opt for a hp 14(2021). It can handle all basic tasks and costs under INR40,000.00. If you want a budget laptop for gaming, I suggest the MSI gf63 thin for about INR50,000.00 as you get a powerful intel core i5, 8GB RAM/1TB HDD along with a GTX 1650. This can run most games on 1080p at 60 fps. Flipkart is currently retailing it for under 50k. Now for those who need more advanced hardware and software features, I would like to suggest the ASUS flow series as these are some of the coolest laptops made. They contain powerful Ryzen 5000 chipsets, RAM anywhere from 8GB all the way up to 32GB. They may not have the best graphics cards, but you can buy the Flow series external GPUs which work perfectly. To add here, Flow series also has a foldable display and touchscreen. Next is the Apple M1 MacBook air/MacBook pro, as can't miss out on the huge Apple following in the world. I personally didn’t enjoy Apple laptops before the M1 chips. The Apple M1 MacBooks have really shone as they can provide the performance of a dell XPS along with the longest battery I have seen on a laptop. Apple also offers some great displays which combined together make the M1 MacBook a great choice. Finally, for people who want pure performance out of their machines, I have 3 recommendations. Firstly, the Lenovo legion series with the powerful Ryzen 5000 chipsets & Nvidia 3000 graphics card. Next is the ASUS Rog G15 / G15 advantage edition. It has the extremely powerful Ryzen 9 5900h processor, with the equally powerful RTX 3070 / RTX 3080 graphics cards. The advantage edition features Radeon 6800m graphics card. These laptops are currently my favorite computers. Finally, we have the Alienware X15 and realistically, nothing rivals this as it has the fastest core i9 12900h with the best RTX 3080ti graphics card making it among the most powerful laptops in the world. Honestly, the term “perfect laptop” is different for everyone. Some people require powerful CPUs as they perform heavy tasks such as video editing etc., whereas other people require a large battery as they like to use computers on the go. There are also some who want a beautiful display! This is all I would like to share for now. More in the subsequent articles. Hope this was helpful. Do stay tuned... Until then... take care!
